Vicko is a Chicago based Tejana, illustrator and comic artist. Her work has been showcased at The Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, The National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, and featured in the award winning “Tales from la Vida: A Latinx Comics Anthology”. Her work has been covered by the Chicago Tribune, Telemundo, Remezcla and her practice has been the subject of panels at the University of Chicago, Harvard, the University of Utah, and the largest comics convention in Chicago, C2E2.
Vicko began drawing as a means of reflecting and calming the noise in her head. In her studies to become an educator, her art practice transformed into curriculum that would aid young people in their own social and emotional development. Today, she continues to use comics as a medium to express our toughest stories honestly. She also continues to just have fun learning, drawing, and reflecting.
